I was born into the boomer generation in 1949 and raised in suburban Minneapolis. It was during my years in college at the University of Minnesota that I discovered the hip enclave of Cedar-Riverside and the 70’s version of the American craft movement. Friends made at the juncture had a huge influence on my lifelong passion for making things of wood.
I left the north with a degree in the Arts and Sciences of Dentistry and rudimentary knowledge of woodworking, moving in time to the hills outside of Berea, Kentucky. My spouse and soul mate, Linda, has made a successful career of art/craft and has been the strongest influence on my development as a sculptor of wood. I also had the great fortune to have met and worked with the old master wood turner, Rude Osolnik. Since 1994, I have used turning and carving techniques to create my current body of works in wood. I continue to maintain a dental practice in rural McKee, Kentucky.
