Isabel Field was one of the founding members of the Printmakers, Inc., a workshop and gallery housed at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia. Through the years, Field has been instrumental in the revival of the monotype medium, a process in which an image is painted on a smooth surface and transferred with pressure to paper placed over it. Recently, Field has been exploring mixed media using screenprints, oil paints, wood pieces, metallic papers and/or stainless steel.
After three decades of printing, whether the prints are playful or poetic, brightly colored or subtle, grand or minimal in size, they are always artful. Appreciation for her work has come from collectors throughout the United States and abroad. She has exhibited in museums as well as showing nationally and internationally.
