Currently, Georgia Deal is the Professor and Printmaking Department Chair of Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, DC. Previous positions she has held include: Resident Printmaker, National Museum of American Art, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, DC, and Asst. Professor of Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute, Utica, NY.
Georgia Deal has been awarded residencies at the Yaddo Foundation, Saratoga Springs, Lakeside Studios, Michigan and Pyramid Atlantic. Grants she has received include: Maryland State Individual Artist Grants, Prince George’s County Arts Grant, the Washington Project for the Arts, and New York State Council of the Arts. She has taught workshops in Printmaking and Papermaking at the Penland School of Crafts, NC, the Paper and Book Intensive, Oxbow, MI. and the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosedale NY amongst others. Courses abroad include at the University of Georgia’s Studies Abroad Program in Cortona, Italy, Santa Reparata Print Studio in Florence, Italy, the Skopelos Foundation for the Arts in Skopelos, Greece and the Instituto des Bellas Artes in San Miguel Mexico.
She is a member of the Board of Hand Papermaking Magazine and the Skopelos Foundation of the Arts, Skopelos, Greece. She is also a member of Friends of Dard Hunter, the Washington Print Club, and the Southern Graphics Council.
Collections include The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, the Corcoran Museum of Art, the Phillip Morris and John D. Hechinger Collections, the Georgia Museum of Art, Duke Museum of Art, Yale University, Cooper Union and the National Library of New Zealand. She has exhibited in the Boston Printmakers’ Biennials, the Delaware Center of Contemporary Art, Pratt Graphics, PRINTS USA, the Philadelphia Print Club, Prints Washington, the Florida Printmakers and at MAP, Baltimore, MD, SOHO 20 in New York, Gallery K in Washington DC, as well as at Tyler Art Gallery, Rome, and at Santa Reparata School in Florence, Italy.
