Galya Rosenfeld’s work is at the intersection of design, fashion, craft, and art. Ruled by mathematic formulas as much as creativity, her designs emerge from the place where whimsy meets pragmatic thought. She accesses a diverse range of materials through her practice, mixing traditional techniques with those she herself has developed. In her work she searches for internal logic of form and material, along side self-reflexive commentary about her fields of activity.
Rosenfeld’s work has been displayed in major exhibitions around the world, most recently at the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art and the Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco. Her pieces are in the permanent collection of The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, commissioned for the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and gifted by Shimon Peres, President of the State of Israel, to The Deutscher Bundestag, Berlin. Rosenfeld’s professional experience includes lecturing and teaching internationally. She is currently teaching in the Department of Jewelry and Fashion at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, and maintains a studio in Ramat Gan.
