Christopher Smith lives and works in New York City. He studied at Pratt Institute, Brooklyn New York (MFA, 2009) and the State University of New York at Purchase, (BA, 2003) In 2009, Smith held an “Artist in the Marketplace” program residency at the Bronx Museum, and exhibited in the inaugural Bronx Museum’s Biennial titled “Bronx Calling.” Since 2009, Smith has held fellowships and residencies in California and New York. Smith has exhibited at the VOLTA Art Fair, DUMBO Arts Festival, 3LD Technology Center, Media Lounge at the Grace Space, and at James B. Duke House, The Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. In 2012 Smith was featured in two episodes of ART/TREK NYC, and more recently, Smith’s work was featured as part of the Lincoln Motors “Hello Again” advertising campaign. Christopher Smith was invited to create a site-specific video installation for the New Orleans Biennial Prospect 3+.
In 2014, Smith was invited to loan a video work for display at the residence of the United States Ambassador to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), headquartered in Paris. In October 2014, Smith was invited to create a video sculpture installation for the Prospect New Orleans Biennial Satellite program Prospect 3+ which was on view through 2015.
