Influenced by classical piano rhythms, Betsy Eby paints with “lyrical buoyancy.” Using palette knives, spatulas, baking mats, and her own hands, Eby seeks to “harness the beauty of musical harmony and the edgy unpredictability of natural wilderness by creating works that look as though the wind itself has flooded the canvas with color and movement.” She works in encaustic, heating and layering wax, keeping visible the passage of time.
