Born into a Korean family in Tokyo, Japan, raised in the U.S. and lived in Germany for a number of years, Bernadette Jiyong Frank currently lives and works in San Francisco, California. She has been working in various visual media encompassing painting, photography and public art in the U.S. and abroad.

Bernadette has had solo exhibitions at Dolby Chadwick Gallery (San Francisco), Triangle Gallery (San Francisco), Galerie Beate Berndt (Augsburg, Germany), and Carnegie Institution for Sciences (Standford, CA). Her work has been included in group exhibitions at Sonoma Valley Museum of Art (Sonoma, CA), FSU Museum of Fine Arts (Tallahassee, Florida), Southern Exposure (San Francisco), Judy Saslow Gallery (Chicago) and Melissa Morgan Fine Art Gallery (Palm Desert, CA) to name a few.

Bernadette is a recipient of the Fire Station #5 Public Art Commission by the San Francisco Arts Commission and the Bus Station by the Waterfront Public Art in Whangarei, New Zealand. She has been awarded a Silver Medal in New Images Photography Awards 2012, and was nominated for the 2013 2 x 2 Solos Exhibitions at Pro Arts Gallery in Oakland. Her paintings and photographs are held in various public and private collections including the Crocker Art Museum, Triton Museum of Art, and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula. Bernadette’s work has been reviewed in the SF Weekly, Examiner and Augsburger Allgemeine, and has appeared in issues #103 and #121 of the national publication New American Paintings. Bernadette is represented by Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco and Galerie Beate Berndt in Augsburg, Germany.
