Amy Touchette is a fine art photographer based in Brooklyn, New York. Her photographs explore social themes that focus on connections and aim to contribute to a historical documentation. Trained at the International Center of Photography, she began her artistic career as a writer and painter, earning a BA in Literature and Studio Art and an MA in Literature. (Her last series, 72” x 36” oil-on-canvas portrait paintings of jazz musicians, sold out.) Amy works as a freelance photography writer and editor and a teacher assistant at the International Center of Photography. She is represented by ClampArt in New York City.
Amy’s first monograph, Shoot the Arrow: A Portrait of The World Famous *BOB*, was published by Un-Gyve Press (Boston) in October 2013. Other publications include The New York Times, Esquire magazine (Russia), BUST magazine, Rangefinder magazine, Loudmouth Press’s fine art book Why Are You Surprised I’m Still Here?, and Peter Hay Halpert Fine Art’s upcoming book Identities Now: Contemporary Portrait Photography.
Her photographs have exhibited nationally and internationally, including Moscow MoMA (Russia), the Pingyao International Photography Festival (China), Arte Fiera OFF (Italy), Noorderlicht International Photofestival and Noorderlicht Gallery (Netherlands), and have been featured in The Huffington Post (Italy and U.S.), la Repubblica (Italy), PDN Photo of the Day, and Slate, among others. She’s given artist lectures at B&H Superstore, Strand Book Store, School of Visual Arts, and the School of the International Center of Photography, and is currently at work on several personal projects, the sketches for which are regularly released on Instagram.
