“Thread work is ritual; repetitive behavior systematically used to neutralize or prevent anxiety. The result is unique. With a different path, a new color interaction, or a new shape. The work changes, the colors shift, and a contrast of fragility and strength evolves, much like my own evolution of self. Thread work is my repetitive ritual,” says artist Katharine Heyl. While she focused her studies on sculpture and painting, she remains heavily influenced by color theory and the work of Josef Albers.
